California Language Archive
The California Language Archive is a physical and digital archive for materials related to the Indigenous languages of the Americas, housed in the Survey of California and Other Indian Languages in the Department of Linguistics at the University of California, Berkeley. Our catalog also includes sound recordings held by the Phoebe A. Hearst Museum of Anthropology.

Online Archive of California
The Online Archive of California (OAC) provides free public access to detailed descriptions of primary resource collections maintained by more than 300 contributing institutions including libraries, special collections, archives, historical societies, and museums throughout California and collections maintained by the 10 University of California (UC) campuses.

Guide to the A. L. Kroeber Papers, 1869-1972 via Online Archive of California
Description: Kroeber conducted fieldwork with several Klamath River groups, including the Karok, Wiyot, and Yurok Indians; the Yokuts Indians of Central California; with Ishi, the last member of the Yahi band of the Sacramento Valley; the Mohave Indians of the Colorado River region; and the Zuni Indians of New Mexico, among many other groups. He also carried out archaeological fieldwork in Mexico and Peru. He published more that 500 books and articles on anthropological topics, and served as an expert witness in the Indian land claims cases Clyde F. Thompson et. al. v. United States, Docket No. 31, and Ernest Risling et. al. v. United States, Docket 37.

Description: Heizer directed important fieldwork in the Sacramento Valley of California, near Lovelock, Nevada, and the Mayan sites of La Venta, Tabasco, Mexico and Abaj Takalik, Guatemala. He published more than 500 books and articles concerning archaeology and anthropology. He served as an expert witness in the Indian land claims cases Clyde F. Thompson et. al. v. United States, Docket No. 31, and Ernest Risling et. al. v. United States, Docket No. 37.

We strive to provide relevant, accessible, and engaging programs and resources, and to promote intertribal and cross-cultural approaches to community building with a social justice lens.
