Status of Repatriation
The University of California systemwide dashboard reports the repatriation status of ancestral remains and the four categories of cultural items defined by NAGPRA: associated funerary objects, unassociated funerary objects, sacred objects, and objects of cultural patrimony. Note that UC considers all Native American items to be potential cultural items under NAGPRA, and the number of objects that are “not yet repatriated” will increase as tribes identify items that belong to these four categories.
